About the Band

Rick Watson – guitar, mandolin, vocals

Rick has been a full-time professional musician for 35 years. He plays a variety of instruments and styles, but has played in numerous bluegrass ensembles over that time. Over the years he has shared the bluegrass stage with such notables as Tony Rice, Vassar Clements, Peter Rowan, The North Dixie Road Kings, Grass Menagerie and others. Bolt Hill is an exciting new direction for him because it stretches the limits of the repertoire.

Dave Kiphuth – banjo, vocals                        DAVE CLOSEUP

Dave Kiphuth became well-known for his banjo work with the respected Connecticut band Apple Country, performing throughout the Northeast and South in the 1970s and 80s. He went on to work with Lonesome Dave and the North Dixie Road Kings, Walt Michael & Company, Chestnut Grove and the Red Hen String Band. He is also a member of the New England Bluegrass Band. Dave has taught banjo and guitar extensively since the 1960s, and revels in his move back to Maine.

Justin Quinn – mandolin, guitar, vocals

Justin comes from a bluegrass family background and is a very much in-demand mandolinist in the seacoast area. He can be found playing many nights a week, with such area notables as Rock Spring, New England Bluegrass Band, Steve Roy and Friends, and the Stone Church bluegrass house band. He is equally capable on mandolin and guitar and comfortable with any of the vocal parts in bluegrass harmony.

Todd Robertson – upright bass, vocals

Todd studied music at Idaho State University, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in Music Education with a focus in trumpet. After moving to the Seacoast he began pursuing his passion for bluegrass and country, focusing his studies primarily in upright bass and vocals. He is active in the seacoast music scene frequenting bluegrass festivals and jams. Todd joined the Bolt Hill Bluegrass Band on bass in 2015. He has also been the trumpet player of the Jumbo Circus Peanuts band since 2014.
